RPG-Girls Adventures #00 Pilot Pt.5

The Start of Our Adventures

“Are you just going to stare on like Mike from Goonies or are you going to open the door?” Alicia asked Katie who looked fondly at the sign.
Katie reached out to the door knob. It was real and she slowly turned it so not to make sound and gracefully open the door. All the girls, Katie, Alicia, Crystal, Krista, and Jen proceeded slowly into the entryway. They stood there taking in the sounds and smell. After two minutes, the girls all at once separated, checking out the clubhouse.
In the entry way there was a small round table with a book on it, this caught Katie’s attention so picked up the book and started to read it. Alicia on the other hand went strait into the library and game right that was on the left side of the entry way room. This part of the house on the outside had looked like a tree. In side it had a metal spiral stair case in the cored with a rode across the stairs and a sign saying, “coming soon.” In the middle of the room was a round stump looking table surrounded by four simple stump chairs and one master styled chair. Krista and Jen walked to the right of the entryway placing them in the entertainment room. Part of the room sank in to have one large corner style sofa and a small plush chair. In front was a very large display screen and empty shelves right by it. This slightly confused the girls, as yes there was a remote to turn the TV on and off but there was nothing to do with it as there was no game systems and no player to play movies or shows. Crystal had gone strait back to the back of the small clubhouse to come upon the kitchen. A very nice kitchen at that. Marble counters, steal dish washer and fridge. But when Crystal went to the cupboards, there was not food and no dishes. It was like the girls had entered a house that had been completely build but nothings but no one had yet move in with any stuff. All the girls then went back to where Katie was in the entry way.

RPG-Girls Adventure #00 Pilot Pt.4

Box Opening

After a rescue from Katie’s dad, the girls soon found themselves at Katie’s with large bowls of ice cream in hand and watching a random episode of a cartoon to try a left their spirits.
“Katie, are you just going to stare at it, or are you going to open it?” Alicia asked after completing her last spoonful of ice cream.
Katie had had a smaller bowl of ice cream then the other girls, and so had completed eating before everyone else. Katie then just investigated the box with out opening it. She tilted it back and forth but only heard one object move in the box.  Soon all the girls where looking to Katie. Katie then found a seam line of the plastic wrap and manage to break a small hole into the corner plastic. This wasn’t like opening a CD, witch could turn quickly ugly with how you can never find a way to take the plastic off and then final you do and then have all the sealing stickers to remove. No, this box wasn’t going to fight being open and more over didn’t want to be damage by its new owner as it was open.  Katie took the top of the box off, as it slid off it squeaked a little. At it was opened, on top layer the rule book. It was very thin, look to have twelve pages at the max. Katie moved it aside to look under. In a hold was one key, five clear plastic blocks, and some gridded blank board game titles.

RPG-Girls Adventure #00 - Pilot Pt. 3

The Trip Home

Katie was staring at the shiny un-open box game as she plopped a piece of soft baked pretzel into her moth. The game she had bought had been a little over her budget but her friends had come to her aid and helped contribute to the game, as they knew she would be playing it with them. The group had now collected themselves at the food court and had each gotten something small to eat. The food court way always good for the girls as everyone had different taste and the food court could cover all of them.
“I wonder what kind of theme the game it?” Jen said after swallowing her broccoli from her beef and broccoli rice bowl.
“It doesn’t really say, I guess its up to the players. Maybe there is something online about it.” Katie said.
“I checked already and there isn’t anything. Guess it’s either a really old game or is didn’t have a lot of copies made.” Alicia said enjoying her smoothly.
Alicia then eyed Crystal.
“How’s the pizza?” Alicia asked.
“Good, thanks.” Crystal said.
Alicia had bough Crystal the slice of pizza after realizing that Crystal hasn’t brought any money for food. Crystal didn’t have much at home, and the girls knew this. Crystal didn’t ever really speck up about it, and it was understood it was a sad point in her life. But the girls tended to treat her to things when they could and didn’t ask for anything in return but Crystal usually did a doodle for them.
Katie looked longing at the new game box before her but dared not to touch it while she was eating her Chinese food as not wanting to spill on it. Even with it still in the shrink wrap, she didn’t want to get it dirty. All the girls where excited to see the game but Katie said she didn’t want to open it till they got home in fear of losing pieces. This made it so the girls quickly completed their meals and got out of the mall.
It was after rush hour traffic, so Katie decided to take the free way and she was very glad she did. Half way home, a couple of the girls had the great need to use the rest room, so Katie hopped into the fast lane. She then told her friends in the car to not tell her parents how fast they where going for they where exciding the speed limit. Crystal then stated she wasn’t going to make it, so Katie started to slow down and make the exit that was only two away from her home and stop by a fast food place. Just as they entered the parking lot the car started to act strange. Katie pulled the car into a large space of the parking lot with no cars and parked the car.
They had a flat tire. The girls who needed to use the rest room when into restaurant while Katie and Krista stay by the car. Katie was deciding on what the best idea was. She could possibly fix the try her self but looking at where the spare was, it seemed something was missing. Katie, nor anyone else, had a cell phone. This is before everyone had cell phones. Katie didn’t have any money in her purse and had to check the ash tray that was used for change instead, to manage to find enough money to use the pay phone. By this time the other girls who had gone to the restroom where now back. In there hands some cups that clearly didn’t have water. But they saw the flat and had the great idea that they could be Katie’s pit crew and could totally change the tire with no parent help. Katie knew better and Krista had to agree but Katie let the other girls get the spare tire out and try their luck, while Katie made the call to her dad who brought the missing tool.

RPG-Girls Adventures #00 Pilot Pt.2

Adventure to the Mall

You know those cartoons where the kids are waiting for the clock to hit the right time to signal that school is out. As the kids watch the clock it seems to go slower and slower to a point it seems to stop or worst, go backwards. But it truth, just going normal. The wait is punishment for many. Stuck in a class with a “lame” subject and worst yet, being with people who you don’t like. Makes maters worst it when you know you will be having fun times with your friends doing an activity that you love soon if only the bell would ring.
The bell rang.
Katie, Alicia, Crystal, Krista and Jen then bolted out of there class rooms and gathered in the commons. There had been no need to rush for the girls to gather quickly as Katie knew it would be best if they just waited till the mad rush to exit the parking lot was over. But the girls did rush in any chase for at least they could gab with each other before being stuck in a car for the twenty-five minute drive to the mall. Giving the population of the school fifteen minutes to get out of the school parking lot, when the girls got out it was very easy to exit and make their way to the mall.
Katie could have taken the free-way but wanted to enjoy the autumn air, so choose a back road that took them by the lake. It did add a few more minutes to the drive but when one is with friends it was alright. Before long, the group found themselves in the park lot of the mall.
“Now kids, don’t forget where we parked.” Katie said to the girls as she locked the doors of the car.
“Yes, mom.” The girls said all together.
That was Katie’s nick name title and rightly so. As she usually was the one who drove, got treats, and try to look after her good friends. As the girls entered the mall and headed to the map to figure out their game plan. For the most part the group knew the in and outs of most of the stores at the mall but Katie had found out there was a new game store that had open recently that none of them had been too. It had open the week before school started and everyone had been far to busy prepping for school to go to a new game shop. The group decided that they wanted to go to the store last before going to dinner at the food court. On the list of shops where the toy store, the movie store, the cheap teen jewelry store, the gothic/punk store, and then it would be the game store. They weren’t the type of girls to really hang out in the cloths stores to much. It was more depressing then fun. Finding what is cute and what fit seemed to be two different things to these girls. As this was a trip for fun, cloths could wait. Also, school had only been in for a month and they where more then happy not to deal with new cloths after most of them had shopping trips with parents for school cloths.
The girls didn’t take to long in the other stores. They did get an item here or there on clearance because who wants to miss out on clearance sales at the mall.  As school sales where over, stores where making way for holiday shopping. Some of the girls made slight vocal sad comments on the Christmas holiday being placed up to soon and would ogle over the Halloween item. Some even talking house they wish they could keep their autumn items up all year round. Before long the girls found themselves outside the new game store.
Soon the girls found themselves outside the new game shop. They did not enter right away but stood at the threshold gasping in the pure joy. Strangers stared at the group of girls, but the girls paid them no mind. They where enjoying the moment and no one’s judgmental gaze would affect it. As soon as the girls crossed the line of the shop, they divided. Jen saw a rack of new and used DVDs, mostly containing anime, sci-fi, fantasy and cult classics. Krista saw a case of figures and by it where more boxed figures. There was no hope of moving her for at least a good five minutes. Crystal had quickly stumbled on to the comics and manga section that had art supplies close by. Right next to that was a fantasy book section that Alicia now had called home. Katie had simply been left at the entry way shaking her head at first and then moved toward the front counter that held the large stock of board game, card packs and dice. Many of the dice where in a glass case along with some out of print board games with them.
The man behind the counter then looked up from his computer that was also the register. The man was presumed to be in his late 30s or early 40s. He almost looked like Ricker off of Star Trek: Next generation. He seemed very friendly and very geeky knowledgeable.
“How may I help you miss?” the man asked.
“Lookin’ for a new game for my friends and I to play.” Katie said with a cute smile.
Katie almost though she saw something in the case change color but the man started standing before her grab her attention enough that she past it off as some play of the lights.
“What kind of game? Board game, party game, or would you like a role playing game?” the man asked noting that Katie was looking at the sparkling 7-dice set dice.
“If you had a role playing game for beginners that would be great but I’d be fine with a board game.” Katie replyed.
Katie had always wanted to game master a role playing game or even play as her brother’s had always had role playing game night that she wasn’t included in. But not all her friends where really into the idea of table top role playing games. The salesman then stood up and turn around and started giving the collection of board game a look through. But before he could make up his mind, something caught her eyes that was in the case.
“What is this game in the pearl box ‘Adventures in Role Playing’ like?” Katie said pointing down at a game into side the case.
Next to a mint never been open first edition red box of Dungeons and dragons was a pearl white box with silver and gold lettering and five clear gems on it.
“Oh, that?” the salesman said.
Just a few minutes earlier the box had been black, blank and only had a very old price sicker that was very high for just a beat up box game. But the salesman knew this game had a mind of it own. Although it was a little surprised about whom it had choose but knew it was best not to question who the box reacted too.
“Just the best game in the shop, if you are up to the challenge.” The salesman said.
Then the salesman took the game out of the glass case and handed it to Katie so she could get a better look. It was nicely shirked wrapped, making it possible for her to flip the box over and read its description.

RPG-Girls Adventure #00 Pilot Pt.1

Lunch Time

This story starts at a high school. This high school was special in the fact that it is a completely average high school. The school it self was old but through the years had gotten remodeled to fill in more students as the small town had grown over the past many years. The school was not without its social clicks; jocks, nerds, the darks, the artist, the cowboys, and the normal crowd of those who where from the wrong side of town. This story talks of a group that was something else. This group was a group of dreamers.
They had somehow, by luck of showing off there love of there favorite shows and stories in either key chains, t-shirts, and folder covers found each other. Lunch time was the best time, as it was when these girls could gather with each other. The girls gathered at a large circle table that was usually the center most table in the commons room. The schools cafeteria and lunch room where next to the commons room. The school had so many students, the commons room acted like a second dinning area.  Together they would talk movies and cartoons, trade comics, and in the right mood and with enough time play a game.
This was a normal day at the table. And as like most days Katie, the oldest yet smallest arrived last. Katie didn’t rush to the lunch room like the others as she didn’t eat lunch at school as it made her sick. She would maybe buy a drink but would go home quickly after school and have lunch then. Katie also had her advance art class right before lunch so cleaning up usually took a bit of time. As Katie got to the table Alicia, her own best friend from junior high was just sitting down with a bowl of rice and chicken.  Alicia with her multi-color hair that never seem to be in the same style twice in a row sat next to the girl with long blond hair eating a slice of pizza. The pizza was missing its cheese and the girl would now slowly eating off the tomato sauce, this was normal for Crystal. Across from Crystal at the table where two more girls; one with strawberry blond hair and the other with plum purple hair. The one with strawberry blond hair was eating nachos whose name was Krista. The one with purple hair was half way through her own bowl of chicken and rice whose name was Jen. This was the group of dreamers.
Katie sat down and Krista looked up with a little bit of sadness in her eyes.
“No new comics?” Krista asked the now seated Katie.
“Didn’t have time to go to the comic store this past weekend, I got called into work. But I do have this weekend off and now will have more money to spend. So I was thinking of going to the mall. Anyone want to join me?”
“I’ll have to ask my mom, but I’d love to.” Krista said with a glee-full smile.
“I’m good to go.” Jen said.
Jen was now done with her chicken and rice and stared to make her bowl and chop sticks into a flying saucer.
Crystal nodded to Katie as a yes to going to the mall and finch off the bread of her pizza and added her paper plate to the now forming paper city in the middle of the table.
“I don’t know…” Alicia rolling her eyes.
“What, got a date?” Crystal said.
“No. Fine, I’m in.” Alicia said, kind of disappointed not to have a date but ok as long as she was with friends.
The warning bell then rang, noting that the girls needed to get ready for there last class of the day.  It was Monday, and through out the week the girls then planned that they would meet in the commons after school on Friday and Katie would drive them all to the mall. Things had popped up in the week making it so the girls would only be able to gather together on Friday. But they planned that after they go to the mall, they go back to Katie’s to watch some anime and have ice cream. It was going to be a very fun Friday.
